Will we soon see these plates flourishing in the French cities? The first city to do it is in fact in the Palestinian Territories! Mahmoud Abbas, the president of Palestinian Authority, has just announced to his French counterpart that the city of Ramallah, in the West Bank , is going to rename one of its main streets in the name of Jacques Chirac.
Described as a ” great man ” by Abbas, Jacques Chirac went there in October, 1996 and had been cheered by the population after his eventful visit to the old city of Jerusalem where he had opposed the Israeli services of security (see the video). The president, who is not seeking a third mandate, will have lots of free time to go visit “his” street, at the invitation of Mahmoud Abbas.

    Well, after all, isn’t Palestine where the modern gay rights, civil rights and women’s rights movement started? I mean gays around the world don’t celebrate Gay Pride because of something that happened in–phew!–the United States!!
