Amir Taheri a un tres bon article aujourd’hui sur le Wall Street Journal, concernant la politique « d’engagement » que les Europeens et maintenant ceretains Americains veulent lancer avec l’Iran… Il nous rappelle les resultats de cette politique en 1970/80, et ce petit retour sur l’histoire n’est pas inutile.

Aucun doute: la chasse tous azimuths contre l’héritage des Lumières est ouverte.

Réaction incroyable:

Human Rights Watch Executive Director Kenneth Roth said it was inevitable some rights foes would win seats but « the important step is that we have made real progress » over the discredited Human Rights Commission, shut down in March.

« It doesn’t guarantee that the council will be a success, but it is a step in the right direction, » Roth said.

Mais les USA peuvent garder la tête haute:

The United States, an outspoken critic of the old human rights commission, had decided against seeking a seat this year after voting against its creation, arguing barriers were too low to keep rights abusers from winning a seat.

L’explication d’un pseudo sociologue est d’une connerie désolante:

Lack of respect was one likely cause, according to Niels Jørgen Cappelørn, the director of the Søren Kierkegaard Research Centre.

‘I don’t think this is an expression of a political rebellion. I think it’s a desperate yell by people who cannot figure out how to communicate in a society that’s racing ahead with the speed of a bullet train,’ said Cappelørn.
